Doula Services

The Full Story

I am a woman who seeks understanding, healing, and enlightenment not only for myself, but for my community. From an early age, my parents instilled in me a deep faith and belief that when we work together, we can create a better world for Black people. That belief continues to guide my life’s work.

My time at an HBCU was transformative. It taught me who I am as an individual, as an American, and as a Black woman navigating systems that have not always protected or valued our bodies. Through my own experiences, and those shared by many women around me, I became painfully aware of how trust in medical and professional spaces especially regarding our bodies, health, and mental wellbeing has too often been abused or taken for granted, particularly for Black women.

My calling to birthwork became clear after witnessing the birth of my goddaughter. Supporting my sister and best friend through her pregnancy and labor opened my heart to the beauty, strength, and sacredness of birth. In that moment, I fell in love with the process of bringing life into the world. I also realized how powerful it is when birthing people are supported, informed, and respected. Every person deserves access to a safe, peaceful, and empowering birthing experience yet far too many women, especially Black women, do not receive that care.

That reality is what drives my work today.

I currently serve as a community doula in the Charlotte–Concord area, where I educate families, advocate for informed decision-making, and empower women to trust their bodies and their voices. My approach to birthwork is rooted in compassion, education, and evidence-based care. I believe that holistic and less invasive methods, when combined thoughtfully with medical and pharmaceutical options can create more effective, supportive outcomes for birthing people and their families.

My long-term goal is to pursue midwifery and further study obstetrics so I can help change maternal health outcomes at both the personal and systemic levels. I am especially passionate about addressing preventable maternal deaths and exploring evidence-based treatments and prevention methods for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), which disproportionately affect women of color.

I am deeply inspired by organizations like March of Dimes and their mission to end preventable maternal and infant health risks, close the health equity gap, and ensure healthier pregnancies for all families. I believe that real change happens when people from our own communities support, uplift, and advocate for one another using their natural gifts and chosen skills.

Birth is powerful. Birth is sacred. And every family deserves to feel supported, respected, and empowered throughout the journey. It is an honor to walk alongside families during one of the most transformative moments of their lives.
